The Diggings

OUT ON SUBMISSION

When a battered young woman stumbles out from Victorian bushlands and onto the Calder Freeway, unable to remember what has happened to her, Detective Niina Lake jumps at the opportunity to lead the case and prove herself as Sergeant material. But as she fights to maintain the integrity of the case, she finds herself up against the political elite and a childhood she can’t leave in the past. Will Niina be able to arrest the right perpetrator and keep her job?

Taut, atmospheric, and darkly compelling, THE DIGGINGS is a story of buried secrets – in the soil, in our families, and in ourselves – and of the women who dig them up.

WORK IN PROGRESS

When floodwaters recede in the tiny Victorian town of Winthrop, the earth gives up a horrifying secret – bodies buried in a backyard.

Detective Sergeant Kat Anderson – person non-grata in the Homicide Squad – is sent to investigate. Partnered with Senior Constable Nate Roughead, a country cop with a clear sense of right and wrong, Kat quickly discovers that the past doesn’t stay buried for long.

As the investigation deepens, their case collides with the ghosts of Kat’s former life, a paedophile ring, and the secrets of Winthrop’s powerful families. Kat must decide what she’s willing to sacrifice to uncover the truth. In Winthrop, loyalty is currency and confession might be the only way out alive.
